YEAR IN REVIEW: VOCALS WITH JOHN & JIMMY BARNES

The Daisies Recap: By April, towards the end of the recordings in Sydney, the Daisies recorded the vocal parts for what would become ‚Revolución‘. Here’s a couple of snapshot of then new singer John Corabi doing his thing.
Australian music legend Jimmy Barnes visited the studio reguarly to see how son Jackie was getting on, who was playing drums. He offered a couple of ideas for the album and the band accepted the song ‘Empty Heart’. Barnes wrote the song with guitarist Tommy Boyce of The Casanovas. “We used Jackie Barnes on drums for most of the tracks on ‘Revolución’, John said. “Jimmy was stopping by on occasion to check on our progress. He spoke with us one day, and offered us a couple of tunes he thought we might like.” The Dead Daisies then asked Jimmy to sing on the track with Corabi. “David Lowy spoke with Jimmy, and told him we agreed on ‘Empty Heart’ but, asked Jimmy if we did the song, would he sing on it with me?,” John said. “Jimmy agreed and we tracked it”.
John Corabi later commented: “After listening we all agreed on ‘Empty Heart’. We all thought it was just a great tune. God what a voice! I am honoured to say I’ve sung with the man.“
