Today ‘On the Road’ meant just that for the band as they boarded the tour bus and took the long road travelled from Chattanooga, Tennessee to Cincinnati, Ohio. The journey was filled with stories and soccer. Both Tommy and David had left earlier in the day to take advantage of three days off so Glenn and Doug, both massive soccer fans, settled in to watch the European Championship game between Belgium and Portugal. It became competitive and heated as there were two camps on the bus cheering on their sides, Belgium the ultimate winner. The bus pulled into a traditional American truck stop where Glenn bought a packet of Twinkies and told everyone the story of how they reminded him of his late Deep Purple friend Tommy Bolan. After a good wander around the truck stop and experiencing all it had to offer including the odd Hawaiian shirt, they jumped back on the bus and arrived in Cincinnati later that evening.
