There had been months of planning and a tremendous amount of hard work behind the scenes to prepare for what became an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime show at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, just outside Chicago.
The venue was packed to capacity for the all-seated event, but once the band took the stage, the audience had other ideas. Glenn Hughes joined Doug Aldrich, David Lowy, and drummer Tommy Clufetos as they launched straight into “Unspoken.” By the time the final notes of “Resurrected” rang out, the crowd was generating as much noise as the band itself.
“Born to Fly” and “Holy Ground” were among the standout moments of The Dead Daisies’ set before the band briefly left the stage for an intermission. They soon returned as The Purple Daisies, treating fans to a full set of Deep Purple classics. Opening with the legendary “Stormbringer,” from the album of the same name, Glenn led the band through a thrilling journey back to his Deep Purple heyday of the 1970s.
As the set built towards its climax, the energy reached another level with three iconic tracks in succession: “Smoke on the Water,” “Mistreated,” and “Highway Star.”
Then came the encore. Returning to Dead Daisies territory, the band kicked things off with fan favourite “Long Way to Go” before bringing the evening to a spectacular close with an explosive rendition of Deep Purple’s “Burn.” Glenn Hughes’ remarkable vocal performance proved he remains at the top of his game, while Doug Aldrich’s dazzling guitar work added even more firepower to an already electrifying finale.
All in all, it was a hugely successful night and the only opportunity to see The Dead Daisies in 2026. Bring on 2027!
