Glenn Hughes has announced that he is stepping back from touring and live performances after doctors advised him to undergo another open-heart surgery.

The legendary bassist and vocalist revealed that a series of recent medical examinations, including MRIs, CT scans, and an echocardiogram, led his medical team to determine that surgery is necessary. Acting on their advice, Hughes made the difficult decision to step away from the stage indefinitely, placing his health above all else.

In a statement, Hughes said, “This past year, I’ve had some health issues. The results from numerous MRIs, CT scans, and an echocardiogram have alerted my medical team that I need another open-heart surgery. I really have no option and no choice, as health is my number one priority. Grateful to have been chosen with a life full of the gift of music… Thank you for walking beside me.”

As a result, The Purple Daisies featuring Glenn Hughes will no longer appear at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California, on October 2, 2026.
