After driving through the night, the band arrived in Torquay in time for breakfast. After a well earned rest, John headed out for a wander to discover what secrets Torquay had in-store. Home to many pirates over the centuries, Torquay has many hidden treasures, and Crabby found a very weird one in the shape of a dinosaur at the town’s very own Dinosaur World.
After a lazy wet afternoon in a coastal town full of palm trees, and tales of pirates, the band headed to the venue, and they didn’t have to go far, in fact, literally just across the road.
Second night of the tour already and the band prepared, looking not a million miles from the pirates that would wander these same streets three hundred years ago. Once the sound of the intro music exploded into full volume, the band charged the stage taking no prisoners.
Doug cut his guitar neck through the air like a buccaneer’s sword while crunching through the riff of ‘Rise Up’, and that is exactly what The Dead Daisies did tonight, ripping the stage to threads while raising the bar further! ‘Lock N’ Load’ is what the band did to amazing effect, along with playing ‘Mexico’ where some of these pirates would have ended up, and ‘Midnight Moses’ a very suitable pirate name to go alongside Black Beard. These were songs that were rammed up to eleven much to the screaming crowds delight!
As the night came to a close with the Beatles classic ‘Helter Skelter’, The Daisies truly left their mark on Torquay tonight, and this very loud and enthusiastic crowd. Next up, the band heads back along the south coast to Southampton!
