The Dead Daisies have been in Germany for the last few days and tonight is the second of five shows in the nation during the ‘Light ‘Em Up’ Tour. Its Colognes turn tonight in the Essigfabrik venue which early on is packed with eager fans waiting to see the band.
Cologne spans the Rhine in western Germany, and is the region’s cultural hub. Gothic architecture spreads across the skyline including the twin-spired Cologne Cathedral is also known for its medieval history. Art by Picasso is featured in the city’s cultural museum. So it really is a hotbed of culture including music.
After Tramp and Beasto Blanco had wowed the crowds, The Dead Daisies hit the stage with the same energy and more, just like they have since the first show on this tour. With the lead track ‘Light ‘Em Up’ blasting through the venue Reb and David’s twin guitars crunched out of their Blackstar amps with a very low end rumble from Michael Devlin’s bass and Tommy Clufetos’s drums before John Corabi grabbed the song by the throat and thrust the band through a big set of songs!
With songs that have spanned the entire ten years of the band including ‘Lock N’ Load’ from the first album to ‘I Wanna be your Bitch’ from the latest album and ‘Mexico’ from Revolucion, ‘Make Some Noise’ from the album of the same name, ‘Dead and Gone’ from Burn It Down, and ‘Bustle an Flow’ and ‘Born To Fly’ from the Glenn Hughes fronted albums, you know the fans have been treated to a celebration of Daisies music.
As the lights went down for the final time, once again, another very happy packed audience exited the venue after swarming around the merch stand grabbing a special momentum to remind them of this memorable night. Next show is in Munich.
