It is the penultimate night of the ‘Light ‘Em Up’ 2024 tour and what better way to play one of the last shows in the City of Music, Vienna! After a three hour bus journey from Budapest, the band arrived ready to Rock Simm City in the Austrian capital.
From the mid-18th to mid-19th centuries, Vienna was home to many great composers, including Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Franz Schubert, tonight however, it’s a louder more raucous breed of musician and composers invading the city with amplifiers and guitars.
There is a noisy packed crowd here in Simm City tonight, one of the larger venues in Vienna because of The Dead Daisies popularity in Austria (last tour they had to upgrade due to the phenomenal demand to see the band).
Once the lights went down, you not only could hear the roar of fans but you could feel the excitement in the atmosphere.
The band is on fire from the first note. Reb is squeezing every note out of his guitar as he moves towards his last Daisies outing, John is the ultimate frontman, a little bit funny and a whole lot Rocking your face off, while the rhythm section of Tommy and Michael are so tight you couldn’t squash an ant through the space. Meanwhile David, the Thunder from Down under is solid and steady like a ticking time bomb, deadly accurate ready to explode when required.
With a set of tracks including the likes of ‘Long Way To Go’ and ‘Midnight Moses’, it’s no wonder the fans didn’t want to go home, they would have stayed all night if the band were able to carry on! Next stop, the final destination, Frankfurt.
